A Spanish Thing

I thought I would share with you a Spanish moment. My seven year old grandson was with us last night so Sandra and I thought we would take him to the local feria. If you don’t know, a feria involves staying up late, lots of eating and drinking, flamenco both singing and dancing, horse shows and of course a fair with rides and carousels etc.

So we arrived in Villanueva de la Concepcion at 9.00 pm. The fair wasn’t open, we went back at 10.00 pm, and the fair wasn’t open. We went to a bar (quite acceptable here in Spain), where the lad watched an important football match on the TV. At 10.45 we gave up the fair still wasn’t open.

I know these things do, as I said, involve staying up late but this was ridiculous.

Sounds like it would have been a fun time, Terry. Sorry it didn't work out.

We had a couple local bar/restaurants here in WV that it was acceptable to take children to - they had the big PacMan and other games for them to play, TVs and jukeboxes. The kids loved to go there.

Taking kids to bars is a very Spanish thing. The Spanish are very family orientated and kids are loved universally, and well at feria time anything goes. It is good fun.
